Nemo Achida is an anomaly. One that is peculiar, one who may be irregular when compared to mainstream art. I would simply say he is a deviation from just that, mainstream. I even struggled to label this type of music. I cannot remember the last time that I sat down and just got lost in an album. Conversations with Myself, Nemo Achida’s latest release, is something that breathes life into a dying art.
Self produced, and written by Nemo himself, this album really is a unique experience for your ears. Instantly you are drawn into the beautiful sampled melodies, and you start to build a relationship with the artist through his work. From the first song “Way Back” to the last track, properly named “Hyphee” you will not skip a track. Each one tells a story, and a heartfelt story at that. I quickly found myself immersed in this new and exciting musical world, and the excitement kept building with every track. Nemo Achida found the perfect combination of lyrical content, and unique production to help us all have faith in music again.
Two of my favorite tracks on the album are #7 My War Song, and the closing track #9 Hyphee ft. Pinky Liberachi. Each has a unique story, and each has a unique sound. I sure hope that Nemo Achida is around for a very long time, and I hope he never stops releasing music. Take a listen to his album and you will understand why.
