Karlos Farrar – Karlos With a K Track-by-Track Review

Last week Karlos Farrar spoke with GroundSounds about his upcoming EP Karlos With a K. Here is a track-by-track breakdown of the EP, which is currently available on iTunes.

Workin Wit (Feat. C Dell The Boi Wonder)

A great opening club banger with distorted vocals and low rumbling drums. Karlos professes that “Ain’t nothing like a bad chick with a big ole booty!” I can’t say that I disagree. It’s a perfect opportunity for all of beautiful ladies listening to show everyone what they are “workin wit.”

Trippin (Feat. Philmore Slim)

Karlos Farrar isn’t in to home wrecking, but isn’t afraid to speak up for what he wants. Before the girl he desires runs to the altar with another man he asks, “Girl what about us? What about love? Or maybe I’m just trippin.” Philmore Slim provides some nice bars to compliment Karlos’ solicitous vocal harmonies.

Ain’t No Lady

Karlos Farrar admits, “I know loving me ain’t easy,” as his voice floats gently above the lush instrumental. Farrar serenades his lady with sweet somethings like, “Gonna shower you with my love for eternity,” and, “Felt like you were made just for me.” This track is sweet, soulful, and sincere.

Put It On Me

A sensual lovemaking tune that will have your lady saying “Put it on me.” It’s not as graphic as some other sexually charged songs you may hear nowadays, but clearly gets the point across. The laid-back production sounds like a track Frank Ocean may have forgotten to put on channel Orange.

You & I

Washy guitar chords and rolling drums lay the foundation that carries Farrar’s voice as he questions the issues in his relationship. But through all of the fussing and fighting Karlos promises he can’t “Give up on love.” After you break up, play this song for the make up…and “Put It On Me” for the make up sex.

Mr. Complete

An arching melody pushes Farr’s vocals into his upper range as he lets go of the one that he loves. In that letting go, he hopes that his ex finds “Mr. make you feel complete.”

Suicide

A deep song about a sensitive subject, with a simple piano/vocal arrangement. Beautiful and sad at the same time.
