Sooo Jayceon, this is what your giving us for the album artwork of “Jesus Piece”…well it definitely has received some attention. But really though, putting a ‘5’ in the name of the man up above and turning him into a gang member?! This is extremely blasphemous! He looks more like Weezy than Jesus. All I can do is SMH (shake my head) at you Mr. Taylor.
Unfortunately, it seems as if many mainstream acts in the hip-hop game are using blasphemous images for shock value i.e. Tyler the Creator and Odd Future. After all just listen to Frank Ocean in Kanye and Jay-Z’s hit song ‘No Church in the Wild’ as Frank sings the line “what’s a God to a non-believer?”. Darker messages in the hip-hop game are becoming more clear and blatant. It is one thing to be a ‘nonbeliever’ as Frank puts it, however, it seems as if many popular acts of our day going out of there way to put out blasphemous messages. Perhaps they are really answering to a higher power of a darker kind. What do you guys think? Comment below.
