For those of you who appreciate the likes of My Bloody Valentine, New Order, and especially Belle and Sebastian, your legs will convulse laconically to this new ethereal act named ‘Merchandise’. Though little is known about this new act, except that of their Tampa, Florida origin and a beautifully grumpy, muddy sound overlapped with Bernard Sumner like qualities, their preemptive single named “Time” is an exciting indicator of their musical inclinations. “Time” has amassed the trite cult following of avid fans that have grown accustomed to this melancholic, glittery sound, tantamount to that distributed by classic labels such as Factory records. “Time” comes off of Merchandise’s debut album, Children of Desireon Katorga Works. Merchandise’s nostalgic, albeit brief, catalog can be found on Soundcloud, as well as the usual forums of viral music such as Youtube.
